What is the output level of Submarine pickups?

Submarine pickups produce an instrument-level output comparable to a typical vintage-style single-coil electric guitar pickup when set up correctly. This makes them suitable for direct connection to pedals, amps, audio interfaces, or mixers without special gain requirements.

On the SubPro, the output level varies depending on how many strings are assigned to a single channel – the more strings per channel, the lower the signal level. For best results, no more than four strings should be grouped together.

Most setups won’t require extra gain, though some players choose to add a DI box or preamp for very long cable runs or when additional headroom is needed.
