Home FAQs Troubleshooting

The pickup won’t stick or the nano-suction isn’t gripping properly. What should I do?

Submarine Pickups attach securely with nano-suction, but adhesion depends on the surface. On most gloss or satin finishes, the pads grip firmly if they are clean and pressed down evenly. If the pickup doesn’t seem to hold:

Clean the nano-suction pads – Press a piece of sticky tape onto the pad surface and peel it away. This lifts dust and debris without damaging the pad.

Clean the guitar surface – Make sure the mounting area is free from dust, dirt, and finger oils. A quick wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth usually works best.

Matte or textured finishes – Nano-suction may not grip as strongly. If you wish to use it on these finishes, apply a small strip of clear tape to the guitar. The smooth surface of the tape gives the nano-suction pads a reliable surface to adhere to.

Archtops or carved tops (Pro and Six) – Follow the installation method described in the dedicated FAQ: place neoprene shims at each end of the baseplate, then stick the nano-suction pads to the top of the shims. This creates a level, stable mounting surface that conforms to the curve of the top.

Acoustic guitars (Pro and Six) – Follow the soundhole installation method. These models clamp securely into the soundhole and will not move, even for temporary use.

Check the baseplate – Make sure the pickup base is perfectly flat. With repeated removal and reattachment, the baseplate can sometimes become slightly bent. If this happens, carefully straighten it so that the pads make full contact.

If adhesion is still unreliable, contact support for advice or replacement pads.
