Are Submarine Pickups noisy or prone to hum?
No – like for like, Submarine Pickups have a much lower noise floor than traditional single-coil pickups. In most setups they deliver a clean, quiet signal that’s well suited for stage and studio use.
If noise does occur, the most common causes are:
Improper string-to-channel assignment – grouping too many strings on one channel can reduce level and exaggerate noise.
Loose magnets or mechanical vibration – if a magnet or pad isn’t seated firmly, it can make the pickup slightly microphonic.
Grounding issues in the wider rig – as with any guitar system, ground loops or poorly shielded cables can introduce hum.
With correct height and secure mounting, Submarine Pickups will run quieter than most conventional guitar pickups.
