Can I record individual strings with Submarine Pickups?
Yes – both the SubPro and SubSix allow you to record strings separately.
SubPro – Up to four discrete outputs are possible. You can group strings (for example, bass, mids, and trebles) or record them as pairs, depending on your cabling setup.
SubSix – Provides six independent outputs, one for each string. This makes it possible to record every string on its own track in your DAW, giving full control over panning, EQ, and effects.
Submarine (2-string) – Normally used as a single combined output, but it also supports separate outputs. With a Y-split cable, you can send the two string signals to separate channels, just like with the SubPro. This isn’t often used, but it’s possible if, for example, you want two bass strings recorded independently, or you want the ability to mute a string with a footswitch rather than with the switch on the pickup.
This flexibility is especially powerful for production: you can pan strings across the stereo field, process bass and treble separately, or apply effects to only one part of a chord.
