Home FAQs General

Are Submarine Pickups designed more for live use or for studio recording?

Both – Submarine Pickups are equally at home on stage and in the studio.

Studio – The SubPro and SubSix allow you to record strings on separate tracks, giving total control over EQ, panning, effects, and editing. This opens up creative options such as panning strings across the stereo field or processing only the bass strings with sub-octave effects.

Live – Many players use the same multi-output features to create wide stereo rigs, send bass and treble strings to different amps, or process individual strings with effects in real time. With the SubSix, it’s even possible to pan strings across the stage for a huge stereo image.

For simpler setups, the original Submarine (2-string) and SubPro can still run in mono through a single amp or pedalboard, making them just as easy to use live as a standard pickup.
