My octave pedal sounds glitchy – what should I do?
First, make sure the pedal is receiving a strong enough signal:- Use the supplied hex key to raise the pickup closer to the strings – the sweet spot is usually 3–7 mm.- If needed, use a clean boost or compressor before the octave pedal to raise the input level. On some acoustic and semi-acoustic guitars, notes naturally contain more upper harmonics. These can confuse monophonic octave pedals (like the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe or EHX Multiplexer). To improve tracking:- Try placing an EQ or preamp before the octave pedal.- Roll off some treble and possibly mids.- Experiment until the octave pedal responds cleanly.
