The Submarine

The Submarine is a versatile tool that can isolate sound from individual strings. Select from one or two strings of your guitar and use with effects pedals .

Add octave bass, play lead and rhythm at the same time, give one string of your guitar more sustain, or add overdrive to part of your guitar and keep the clean sound as well.

What does it sound like?

Octave Bass

The Submarine picks up the signal from two bass strings. This signal is then dropped an octave using an MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. The signal from this acoustic guitar's regular pickup is unaffected.

Pitch Bend

Glissando bass lines with an expression pedal controlled pitch shift. The pedal used here is the EHX Pitchfork. It is being controlled with a Roland keyboard pedal, but an expression pedal would do the trick nicely too.

Octave Up

Pitch shift and atmospheric effects on the high strings.

How do I attach to my guitar?

Nano-suction pad

The Submarine is held on to your guitar with a new nano material that works in the same way as the pads on geckos' feet.

Because the pad uses no adhesive, it is dry to the touch and leaves no residue. To attach the Submarine to your guitar first clean any dust away with the supplied polishing cloth and then place the Submarine under the strings you wish to use it with. The height can then be adjusted using an allen key to suit your guitar.

If the pad it loses its stick, it is easy to refresh. Dust and grime can be removed very easily with sticky tape leaving the pad as good as new.
